Commentary

Located on the gorgeous Redcliffe peninsula, Rothwell has recorded strong price growth in recent years.  Separated from Moreton Bay by green spaces and wetlands, Rothwell is a fast-growing suburb with affordable bayside living. New developments in the young suburb have attracted young families as well as professionals. The City of Redcliffe was Queensland's first settlement set amid Moreton, Bramble and Deception Bays and is now home to more than 50,000 residents.  North of Brisbane's CBD, the Redcliffe shire is accessible via the Bruce Highway and the Gateway Arterial Road to the Port of Brisbane and the Brisbane domestic and international airports (only 20 minutes away).

A lingering concern among locals working in the Brisbane CBD is the lack of a rail link through to Redcliffe. Currently the line terminates at Brighton with no plans to extend across the Hornibrook Bridge into Redcliffe. The suburb has a diverse range of both public and private business activities including tourism, manufacturing and light industry, retail and the fishing and seafood industry. The Redcliffe City Council has made a strong commitment to economic growth with recent initiatives including the construction of a new library and art gallery and the redevelopment of the Redcliffe hospital. The main commercial element is retail trade with most local residents commuting to Brisbane for work. Families are well catered for with several primary, high and special schools in Redcliffe and surrounding suburbs. Those undertaking tertiary education have access to a TAFE campus on Klinger Road.

History
The suburb's name is after the president of the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland, TJ Rothwell, who in 1921 proposed a memorial drive marked by an avenue of trees to Redcliffe via the upgraded main road (Anzac Avenue). Rothwell was officially named as a suburb by the Queensland Place Names Board on 1 July 1970.

Attractions and features
Rothwell is a residential area with a growing business district, home to The Zone, a mixture of diverse retail businesses. There is a small supermarket with accompanying shops in Rothwell, but the major supermarkets are in neighbouring Kippa-Ring and Deception Bay. Rothwell is also home of the Redcliffe Airport.

Education
Located in Rothwell is the Grace Lutheran College Rothwell campus, a secondary school for years 7-12. The campus has over 1200 students. Mueller College also can be found in Rothwell.
